TLA EXPECTATIONS

At TLA we take pride in maintaining a high standard which we believe leads to success.

Please take time to read through our expectations at TLA, some requirements may vary depending on the class.

Our Values:


Respectful: We are proud at TLA to acknowledge each person's worth, individuality and contribution. Therefore at TLA we expect that everyone is polite and courteous to one another as we strive to ensure that all students feel valued and respected.

Equity: We seek to be inclusive in our practice, providing equity of opportunity for each student so that every member of TLA feels empowered and supported.

Transparency: We are open in our communication and engagement at TLA and are interested in seeking active participation and dialogue with our students so that all members of TLA can grow and learn from one another on an individual level.

Resilience: We ask that all students at TLA strive to maintain a hard-working and resilient attitude in every session, especially when faced with new challenges.

We kindly ask that all members respect the facilities, teachers, peers and themselves. We ask that our students are open-minded to new people, ideas and challenges at TLA.

OTHER EXPECTATIONS:

UNIFORM:
  Each class at TLA requires a specific uniform in order to ensure that clothing is appropriately suited for each session. Each TLA student (unless solely attending dance sessions) must purchase a TLA T-shirt which can be ordered via the front desk.


At TLA there is a firm policy regarding that all students DO NOT wear unbranded TLA clothing or class specific attire (leotard and tights) without additional top layers (t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms) outside of class. This is purely due to safety, and failure to comply with these expectations will lead to further conversations.


Please note that no jewellery is to be worn during dance classes

 

Lower School: Tinies, Juniors and Intermediates

For
Musical Theatre/Drama:

Girls:  Black leggings/tracksuit bottoms, Black TLA T-shirt, a branded TLA hoodie or zoodie (not compulsory) and a TLA scrunchie for hair (Tinies and Juniors)
Blue TLA Leotard, TLA dance leggings, TLA scrunchie, Black TLA T-Shirt and a branded TLA hoodie or zoodie (not compulsory)

Boys:  Black leotard, black jazz pants, Black TLA T-shirt, jazz shoes and a branded TLA hoodie or zoodie (not compulsory)

Please note that all Lower School students must wear the TLA scrunchie in their hair as a part of their uniform


Upper School: Seniors and Graduates

For
Musical Theatre:

Girls:  (Depending on class): students must wear either a TLA black leotard and black TLA leggings (Senior), a black leotard and black footless tights (Graduates)

Hair must be in a neat bun.

Boys:  Black leotard, black jazz pants and jazz shoes

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT:


Students must also bring a water bottle to each session at TLA in order to maintain hydration throughout the day, especially during dance classes

Jazz Shoes must also be purchased at the TLA desk for Drama sessions and occasionally in Musical Theatre dance classes


Additionally, students may also purchase Turning Shoes via the TLA desk for Musical Theatre dance classes as well as Character Shoes (Required for Graduate class only)



ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY:



All absences must be communicated in advance/or previously agreed. Should any student be running late, feel unwell / injured or unable to attend a session due to a holiday or any other reason, please contact as soon as possible.

Please note that while attendance is not compulsory, it is strongly advised, as regular attendance provides each student with the best chance of consistent development and growing confidence.
