Ballet

What is Ballet?

Ballet is a classical form of dance rooted in grace, precision, and discipline. Originating in the royal courts of the Renaissance and evolving through centuries of artistic tradition, ballet is known for its refined technique, expressive storytelling, and elegant movement vocabulary. Dancers train to develop strength, posture, coordination, and musicality, all while mastering a set of codified steps and positions. At its core, ballet combines athleticism with artistry, offering performers a foundation that supports every other dance style—and a timeless way to communicate through movement.

At TLA students follow the IDTA curriculum for Ballet

Under the guidance of Ella, our dedicated Ballet teacher, students are encouraged to develop their own artistic voice within the classical form. While individuality and expression are nurtured, the focus of each class remains firmly on technical foundation—ensuring that every dancer builds strength, control, and precision in a safe and structured environment.

Ballet at TLA prioritises clarity of alignment, efficient muscle use, and proper posture, allowing students to move with grace, confidence, and intention. Ella’s approach balances tradition with thoughtful innovation, giving students the tools they need to execute movement both beautifully and safely. Technique is not only key to progress—it is essential to prevent injury and to support each dancer’s longevity and versatility in their training.

At TLA, we believe that strong technique is the gateway to true expression—and in Ballet, the two must always work hand in hand.
